On my recent scouting expedition to Chch, where by the way the wife was totally wowed (we are moving to Chch from San Francisco at the end of 2005, give or take a couple of months) I ate at some quite tasty restaurants. My apologies if everyone knows about these already.
Of special note were:
Ebisu (Japanese) @ 96 Hereford.
Honey Pot (breakfast, cafe)-- on street 2 blocks south of Hereford, parallel to Hereford near Manchester
Dux de Lux (of course) near the arts center.
Aiki (Organic Japanese) on Columbo near St. Aspaph
Raj Mahal (Indian) on Columbo a block or two north of Hereford
